FATE ZERO EPISODE 1 REVIEW

Gilgamesh? NO. Saber? YES

poor Sakura now we know why she's f*cked up

My Thoughts

Well after watching the lengthy first episode, I gotta say I may blog this series after all. At first I was hesitant since halfway through Fate/Stay Night I kinda stopped watching because I got bored of it. I was afraid that I would do that with this series as well. I just wanna point out first that unlike the previous series where they slowly introduced each master, this time they introduced almost all of the masters in the first episode and that got me really confused. I know that may sound bad but its really good since the pacing is kinda faster compared to the previous series. The art may be beautiful but the 3 main characters (good thing the other became white) all got the same face, same black hair, but minor difference in hair style. I rewinded the episode a couple of times to see who was who. Then I saw some familiar faces from Fate/Stay Night like Rin, Sakura and the origin of the white haired little girl. Apparently there are more mythos to this Holy Grail war as the previous series let on as it focused more on the teen angst. I got to know the Mage association and apparently there are many mages around the world and they go to school too (Harry Potter much). They even have the same pure blooded means higher breed and magical power thing going on like HP. Anyway, each master has their own reasons and different backgrounds and I kinda like that they are more relatable this time around, unlike the previous series. Good thing this is a prequel as you don't need prior knowledge to Fate/Stay Night. The music really fits the whole magic/gothic vibe, the voice work and the animation are decent, and my only concern would be the story. I hope they would make it interesting this time. I hope also that they would somehow explain things more because episode 1 introduced so much without a breather and some explanation that up until to the writing of this review my head still aches from remembering those names and terms. There are also differences to the way the servants appear than their previous counterparts. Some have different hair color, some have different appearances and personalities overall. I'll try to watch this show more and see if my interest would peak or it may plummet to the ground, because frankly this show has a very interesting premise and the magic stuff is kinda cool.

Mood while watching: My brain hurt but was slightly smiling inside
